Longbridge Ladies 2 - 2 Woodlands Girls
After loosing away last week, Longbridge were looking to give a strong performance against Woodlands. With Longbridge defending well and getting balls up to the forwards it looked as if they would take the lead early on, but like their previous games they could not put the chances away. Longbridge defender Lucee Firth came closest when her header from a Tara Harrison corner went just wide of the post. This came back to haunt the ladies as a long ball over the top caught out the defence and with the 'keeper off her line it was a simple finish for the Woodland's striker. Within 5 minutes they had doubled their lead with an identical goal to the first. As it was reaching high temperatures the teams took a quick drinks break which seemed to work in the favour of Longbridge. Straight after the drinks break Longbridge were able to pull a goal back and like Woodlands score another soon after to level the score. The second half was evenly balanced with both teams going forward but not able to convert their chances. Woodlands managed to hit the cross bar twice whereas Longbridge kept firing their shots straight at the 'keeper. Overall a fair result on a scorching hot day in Birmingham. Longbridge will be travelling to Stratford for their next fixture and will be looking to find their winning mentality once again. For all fixtures and results go to http://www.cwgfl.com/
