England Women 4 - 0 Slovenia Women | Euro 2013 Qualifier

After the England ladies drew away to Serbia on Saturday they came back with an outstanding and dominant performance tonight against Slovenia. It only took Rachel Yankey 52 seconds before she scored her second in as many games after she fired a shot past the Slovenia keeper from a short corner. Ellen White soon doubled England's lead after she headed home Karen Carney's superb cross. With England 2-0 up within the first 5 minutes, they looked very comfortable and started playing some quality football. Another chance for Yankey after she broke away from a poor Slovenia corner but she got brought down just yards from the box which resulted in the games first yellow card for Slovenia. As the game was approaching half time England had another great opportunity. A great run inside from Alex Scott who managed to find the brilliant run made by Fara Williams which resulted in Ellen White's shot being blocked off the line. Towards the end of the half Slovenia managed to tighten up their midfield and back line which made things a little harder for England going forward. Within 5 minutes of the second half Everton's Fara Williams, who kept control in the midfield for England, struck a great free kick which was well held by the keeper. Not long after England were 3-0 up. Yankey made one of her trademark runs down the left hand side and whipped in a great ball which was met by a bullet of a header from Steph Houghton. With England's confidence growing, Rachel Unitt fancied her chances from long range when she saw the Slovenia keeper off her line but she managed to get back and collect the ball. Rachel Yankey was then replaced by Birmingham City striker Rachel Williams who soon showed the fans why she's the WSL top goal scorer. After Williams won the ball in the air it looked as if it was going out for a goal kick but great determination shown by Jess Clarke kept the ball in and Williams put it away from 6 yards out. A great performance by England and a well deserved 3 points to show for it.
